Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

The win also indicates he has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children together, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour title, took control to push for a decider.

He defended four early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
