Incredible $30 Map-Making Humble Bundle Is a Virtual Tabletop GM's Dream

Following a short availability earlier this year, the Map Making Mega Bundle has returned for a limited time available through early December. Described as an extensive collection of mapping tools developed by a specialized software company over the years, the complete package carries a value of more than thirteen hundred dollars. And there are multiple package options available here.

The Main Attraction

The big draw is certainly a lifetime license to the CC3+ software, an industry-standard mapping application which enables users to generate various types including fantasy overworld maps, smaller regional maps, urban layouts, and, perhaps most importantly, tactical combat environments.

Package Levels

Basic Package

The cheapest bundle tier, starting at just one dollar, includes only four of the 39 total items: Symbol Set 1: Fantasy Overland, Monster Token Pack 1, Source Maps: Castles!, Urban Source Maps. This one's only for cartographers who already have CC3+, yet it provides new fantasy symbol styles for landscape mapping, over seven hundred fifty creature tokens compatible with online gaming platforms, over twenty-five top-down castle layouts including hundreds of map markers, eight fully mapped cities, plus seventy-plus building interiors.

Intermediate Package

The eight-item bundle for at least $15 is where things get more interesting by adding in a lifetime CC3+ license, Cartographer's Annual Vol 1, Tome of Ultimate Mapping, and Symbol Set 6: Isometric Cities. The Annual represents the annual collection from the company's long-running monthly subscription service featuring a variety CC3+ add-ons including map packs and additional utilities. Isometric Cities lets you present urban areas in 3D perspective with isometric views from multiple angles. And the Tome of Ultimate Mapping is a 760-page for beginners and "power users" alike, packed with guidance and instructions for the map-making process.

Every volume of Cartographer's Annual come with this bundle, plus numerous other resource and asset packs that can help users design entire planets or galaxies, or just go all-in on traditional fantasy world-building: combat arenas, dungeons, cities, and continents in multiple viewpoints. Users can also create character portraits. For $30 as opposed to $15, the complete collection is so worth it, particularly for mappers with temporary CC3+ access and want to upgrade to lifetime. But it's obviously more advantageous for map-making newbies since it includes the beginners' tutorials to facilitate learning. The one caveat here though the purchase is available on any platform, the applications only function on Windows.

Charitable Component

As with other Humble Bundles, a portion of each sale goes to benefit a nonprofit. For this one, the beneficiary is Save the Children, an organization founded by Eglantyne Jebb in 1919 focused on improving the lives of children worldwide through education, health care, and emergency relief. There's also an "Adjust Donation" drop-down just below that, enabling adjustment of how much of your donation allocated between the platform, developer, and charity.
